Steam locomotive Typ U Lok Nummer 1 "RAIMUND" of the Zillertalbahn
The U series was originally a narrow-gauge steam locomotive of the Imperial Royal Austrian State Railways (kkStB) for 760 mm gauge track. It is among the most widely built narrow-gauge locomotives in Europe. The locomotives proved so successful that they were procured in large numbers by almost all operators of narrow-gauge railways in Austria and built by several locomotive manufacturers.
Due to their large numbers, numerous locomotives of this type are still preserved in working order on museum and tourist railways today. Some examples have also been displayed as locomotive monuments.
