Class T 478.1 is a diesel-electric universal locomotive. In the years 1966-1971, locomotives of the 230 series were produced for ČSD at the ČKD plant in Prague. In 1971, the locomotive series T 477 was produced in Prague. The locomotive reached a maximum speed of 100 km/h. The six-cylinder turbocharged engine produced 1,500 horsepower.
They pulled all kinds of trains, from international express trains to passenger trains, from heavy goods trains to "collectors" (shunting trains). They were also seen in the border stations of neighboring countries. The large shafts under the front windows quickly earned her the nickname "Bardot", a loose reference to the French actress Brigitte Bardot.
